Reports coming in indicate that the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, Ekow Quansah Hayford, has been shot dead.
It is unclear who was responsible for the shooting.
Ekow was reportedly shot on the Abeadze–Mankessim Road when returning from a campaign event.
The New Patriotic Party MP along with his entourage was reportedly ambushed by armed robbers on their return from a campaign event.
Ekow was campaigning for re-election in the December 7 polls.
It is unclear whether he was the target or it is indeed a case of robbery gone wrong.
